       Step x Step Giraffe Puppet Directions

For this project you will need:
1 Giraffe Sockett® kit by Tigercandy Arts, Inc.

1 hot glue gun & 1-2 glue sticks (always supervise children when a glue gun is in use!)
1 pair of good craft scissors
----------------------------
                                                                                     Items included in your kit:

Step 1, Materials & Directions:
Lay out your materials and read through the directions entirely at least once before beginning assembly. We recommend assembling all the parts before attaching them to the sock base!

Step 2A, Ears: {*Hint* Before you begin make sure ears are facing the correct direction}. Center the inner ear inside the outer ear aligning the bottom edges (1). Glue inner ear to outer ear starting from the "stem" and working up(2). [*Hint* Hot glue dries quickly. So glue as you go!} Repeat with second ear.

Step 2B: Add glue to the ear stem (3) and pinch closed (4). Hold until glue dries then pull the ear stem through ear button. Repeat with second ear (5).

Step 3, Horns: Add a line of glue to one side of the flat horn and roll 1x.  Add another line of glue and roll again. Repeat. Continue adding a line of glue and rolling until the horn is complete. Glue a pom pom to the end of each horn.

Step 4, Eyes:  {*Hint*: double check placement at every step before adding any glue} Assemble the eye pieces (1), Glue the sclera in the center of the eye base. (2). Glue the Pupil slightly towards the inner edge of the sclera (3). Align the lid with the top of the eye base and glue it on(4). Hold lashes by the fringe and add a line of glue to the narrow, flat underside (5), adhere lashes to eyelid along the straight edge(6).

Step 5, Placement: Put the sock all the way on your hand so your fingers touch the toes. Make two chalk marks centered on your knuckles about 2" apart. This is where the Ears wil go.  Next, make a second pair of chalk marks below and between the first set centered on your finger joints about 1" apart. This is where the Eyes will go.   Finally, make a third set of chalk paralell to the Eyes marks along the toe seam for the Nostrils.

Step 6, Ears Placement:
Trim the ear stem so it does not extend past the ear button (1). Add glue to the underside of the button and stem (2). Glue to chalk mark then lift the button and add more glue to adhere to sock (3).  Repeat with second ear. {*Hint* To avoid making mistakes, practice placing the ear before adding any glue!}

Step 7, Horn Placement:
Slide horn button onto horn and trim horn to desired length (1). Then, cut one side of the button flat (2). Add glue to bottom of horn (3) and adhere to Giraffe with flat side of button overlapping ear buttons (4)

Step 8, Mane Placement: {*Hint* Determine optimal mane placement before adding any glue.} Begin at one end of the mane. Using multiple, small drops of glue, adhere the mane between the ears and over the horn buttons. By now you have discovered, hot glue dries very quickly. Do Not add the glue all at once. Proceed slowly, adding drops of glue, adhering the mane, tightening, and smoothing, until the entire mane is glued down. Applying small drops rather than long lines of glue should make the mane less stiff and the puppet more flexible.

Step 9, Eye & Nostril Placement: Place the puppet on your hand and locate the chalk marks you made at your first finger joints (Refer back to Step 5). Darken those marks if necessary. This where the eyes will go. Place nostrils on the toe seam.
