Pig Sockett® Assembly Directions
For this Pig sock puppet project you will need a
Pig Sockett® kit,
 *craft scissors
*hot glue gun/glue.
*Supervise children when these items are in use.

For BEST results follow these 6 suggestions:

  • Read through all of the directions at least once before begining assembly.
  • Assemble all the parts before gluing them to the puppet.
  • Practice placing parts before gluing them to the puppet so they go exactly where you want them to.
  • Use the included chalk to mark placement when necessary.
  • Keep in mind that hot glue dries very quickly. Use small drops of glue and glue as you go. This will be illustrated in different sections of the directions.
  • Have Fun!!
 ASSEMBLY:                                                                                              I

Step 2, Ears: Make sure your ears are facing the correct direction beore gluing anything. Center the inner ear inside the outer ear aligning the bottom edges (1). Glue inner ear to outer ear starting from the "stem"(2) and working up.(3) [*Hint* Hot glue dries quickly. So glue as you go!} Repeat with second ear.

Step 2A: Add glue to the ear stem and pinch closed as illustrated above. Hold until glue dries then pull the ear stem through ear button. Repeat with second ear.

Step 3, Snout:
Glue the nostrils to the snout. The best way to get them placed evenly is by  folding the snout in half. You can also use the provided chalk to mark placement if needed.

Step 4, Tail:
Fold one side of the tail in towards the center and glue into place. Fold the other side towards the center and glue into place. The very tip of the tail will remain unglued.

Step 5, Eyes:
Good eye contact is the secret to an engaging puppet! The BEST way to achieve good eye contact is to triangulate the pupil. This means avoid placing the pupils dead center in the whites. Rather, place them ever so slightly towards the inner edge, forming an invisible triangle with the snout. Remember, Do Not add any glue until you have achieved your desired placement. Make the eyes and set them aside.

Step 6, Placement: Put the sock on your hand so the mouth is in your palm. Locate your knuckles (second finger joints) and make two, small, level chalk marks around an inch apart. This will be where the ears will go. Then locate your first nuckle joints and make to small marks next to eachother. These should fall between the ears. This is where the eyes will go.

Step 7, Ear Placement: Trim the ear stem so it does not extend past the ear button. Add glue to the underside of the button and the side of the ear stem that will lie against the sock. Glue to chalk mark. Repeat with second ear. {*Hint* To avoid making mistakes, practice placing the ear before adding any glue!}

Step 8, Eye Placement:
Add glue to the front of the eyebase stem (1) and glue to chalk mark (2). Repeat with second eye. Once both eye bases are attached,  glue the pom-poms on top of the stems (3). Then glue the back of eyebase to the pom-pom (4).

Step 9, Snout Placement: Center and secure snout approximately 1/2" above the mouth (1). Add a line of glue along the bottom of the underside of the snout (2). Slowly glue, smooth & tighten to avoid gapping as you work your way up (3) until snout is fully attached.

Step 10, Place Tail:  We like to attach it just below the cuff line. Pull the tail through the tail button tip first, leaving 1/2" of stem (1).  Pinch the end of the tail and curl it over. (2) Add a drop of glue to the side of the tail and adhere(3).  Add glue to the bottom of the tail and adhere tail to the sock. (4) Once attached, carefully lift tail button, add a few drops of glue, (5) securing the the tail and button to the sock.

Step 11, Accoutrement: Flower and/or faux fur tuft. Glue together and attach one or both as desired.
